What style is right for you?
A fun upbeat style of dance for all ages and levels! Jazz dance is often done to pop hits and current music. This dynamic style uses technique and energy to create a very entertaining form of dance. This more technical style is highly encouraged, as it is a great base for all styles of dance. A combination of Jazz and Ballet is highly recommended for any serious dancers. Students should wear tight fitting dance attire, black jazz shoes, and hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Ballet is the foundation of all styles. Highly recommended for all students Ballet is a very important technical base. Class includes barre work, across the floor and centre practice. A combination of Jazz and Ballet is highly recommended for any serious dancers. Students in Ballet must wear a bodysuit, pink tights, pink ballet shoes and should have their hair in a proper ballet bun.
Lyrical is a combination between jazz and Ballet. This class is often done to slower music, and combines technique and emotion to create a very dynamic style. Lyrical is best taken in conjunction with Jazz, Ballet, or both. Students should wear tight fitting dance attire, bare feet, and hair pulled back into a ponytail.
This challenging style derived from gymnastics is an excellent class for dancers wishing to try something new. It is highly recommended that all acro students take another dance class in conjunction with their acro. This class is largely spent working on tricks such as cartwheels, walkover, and flips. Students should wear a bodysuit and shorts or leggings and have hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun.
This outgoing style combines dancing, singing and acting to create a very entertaining result. Class includes learning a song start to finish, acting exercises, and of course some basic dance technique. Jazz or ballet is also recommended in conjunction with this style. Students should wear tight fitting dance attire, black jazz shoes and hair pulled back into a ponytail.
Hip Hop is a fun Urban style for all ages, no previous dance experience is required. This high energy style is a great introductory dance class. Hip Hop is the only style that we currently offer a Boys only class for. This class can more easily be taken as a stand alone class. Students should wear comfortable clothing they can move in, CLEAN runners and hair pulled back in a ponytail.
Tap is a rhythmical style focused on footwork, a good class to work on timing and counting. Tap is a fun but precise class, best known for it's shoes which have metal taps on the bottom. Students should wear tight fitting dance attire, black tap shoes and hair pulled back into a ponytail. Split sole tap shoes are recommended.
Dance Team is for serious dancers that would like to compete at various competitions in the Okanagan. Dance Team is by invitation only. Members must take Ballet, Ballet Technique, Dance Team Technique and Dance Team Choreography classes. It is recommended that Dance Team students also take Jazz and Lyrical. Anyone interested in Dance Team in the future should start by taking Ballet and Jazz.
